World Work in Joel’s Words – October 2019

Joel taught that rising in consciousness to realized Christhood is not ultimately for our own benefit, but the means to uplift the consciousness of mankind universally and dispel the ignorance of truth that is at the root of all human trouble.  He spoke often about how we as individuals can be an influence in bringing that freedom to the world.

On the first of each month, we post an excerpt from Joel’s writings on this topic.  The following excerpt is  from Consciousness Transformed, August 16, 1963, “One with God: Praying for the World.”

What we want is the realization of the activity of the Christ in human consciousness. So, in your world work, do not pray for peace and do not pray for equality or justice or prosperity or health. Just recognize Christ as the only power and the carnal mind as the arm of flesh or nothingness. If you understand that kind of world work, it will open up many ramifications of prayer for you. Take what I have given you tonight, and then let the Father reveal whatever else is necessary in the nature of prayer. This is merely to show you in general the nature of world work and, as you work with it, you can receive more specific instructions from within. Then you will be more deeply empowered from on high, and that is what counts, not these words. The spiritual power that flows is what counts.
