World Work in Joel’s Words – June 2018

The following excerpt is from  Man Was Not Born To Cry, Chapter 8, “Across the Desk.”

In doing world work, always remember that you are not seeking to change the conditions of “this world.”  Does this shock you?  It should not, because now you know that “My kingdom is not of this world.”[1]  You also know that “My peace” is not the peace that the absence of war can give, or that health or wealth can give. “My peace” and “My kingdom” refer to a state of consciousness that is not of an earthly nature, not even of a good earthly nature.

World work in The Infinite Way consists of bringing the kingdom of God to earth.  What exactly does this mean to you?  To me, it means transforming my own consciousness to God-consciousness, living and moving and having my being as the Christ, and not living as mortal man.  It means to mold my desires, ambitions, and actions to conform “to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount,”[2] as taught in the Sermon on the Mount.

Above all, it is to live only as I, knowing that I embody my good; to understand that the bread, meat, wine, and water of life are the substance and activity of my consciousness; and to know that power does not exist outside of me and that it is not necessary to use any power. … To dwell in this consciousness, or better still, to live as this consciousness brings the kingdom of God to earth. …

Praying to God for supply for yourself or for the world is a waste of time, but realizing that “the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof,”[3] and “Son . . . all that I have is thine”[4] restores abundance.

Prayer in world work should be based on “My kingdom is not of this world.”[5]   Keep your conversation in heaven; keep your prayer anchored in God and in spiritual truth.  God cannot be prevailed upon to stop accidents on the highways, but the realization of God as the mind of man will reveal divine law, order, and harmony.

Let your daily world prayer be a part of your tithing, giving back to God of your first fruits.
